FATAL ACCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION MONGAUP VALLEY, NEW YORK (June 22, 2016) – A 45-year-old man was killed in a tragic apartment fire after becoming trapped on the second story of his building at 1240 Route 17B, according to Patch.com. (map) Authorities have been able to identify the man that was killed as Richard Burke. Police are still investigating the deadly fire, but they think it may have been the result of a cooking accident on the first floor of the building. The Police and Fire Departments rushed to the scene of the apartment fire, but they were not able to pull Richard Burke out in time. He was later pronounced dead at the Catskill Regional Medical Center. Another man was extracted from the apartment with injuries from smoke inhalation and minor burns.
